The Illinois Valley Sail and Power Squadron of America's Boating Club (also known as United States Power Squadrons) is committed to promoting boating safety through education.
For over 50 years we have been providing recreational boaters in Central Illinois with information that will help them to safely operate their boats and personal watercraft. We provide that information through public boating courses scheduled several times each year. We actively participate in the United States Coast Guard's Vessel Safety Check Program, whereby trained and certified Vessel Safety Examiners inspect watercraft free of charge to ensure that they comply with all federal and state regulations.
We are also a social organization, holding boating events, cruises, and dinners throughout the year. Our members regularly boat on the Illinois River, the Great Lakes, and other lakes and rivers throughout the country.
Chartered in 1973 and located in central Illinois (Peoria), the Illinois Valley Squadron is one of the 17 Squadrons in District 20. Our district includes all of central and northern Illinois, southern Wisconsin, and northwestern Indiana. Nationally, there are more than 450 Squadrons affiliated with the AMERIC'S BOATING CLUB® grouped into more that 30 districts.
